Biofach & Vivaness 2017 – the World’s largest Organic Trade Fair

Last week was crazy – crazy busy, crazy wonderful, and crazy inspirational. Why? Because I spent the entire week in Nuremberg at the biofach and vivaness trade fairs for organic food and organic cosmetics.

In today’s post I want to share a few first impressions from the trade fair and a few favorites of mine. I planned a few more posts that will be related to the trade fair; there will be a post about my thoughts on sustainable cosmetics (I got so much input on the fair on this topic!), another one about my Spring favorites (with a few products from the fair…), and there will be a few posts about my favorites when it comes to organic lipsticks, nail polishes, and… let’s see what else comes into my mind 😀

Anyway, today I want to introduce the biofach and vivaness to you! With more than 2000 exhibitors and almost 50.000 trade visitors from 130 countries, the biofach is the world’s largest and leading trade fair for organic food. As you can imagine, it is huuuuge. Like really huge. I spent four days, 10 hours each day; and I did not manage to see everything.

I went to the fair mainly for work but I took off work a few hours to look around for brands and products that could be intersting for my blog, and I found quite a lot 🙂

How cute does this booth look? I just had to have a closer look when I saw this pretty flower decoration; and it was so worth it! I met the cutest lady ever in the puroBIO booth and had such a nice talk with her. Silvia, I was amazed about how much energy you had after a long day at the fair! You really are the sweetest soul and I loved spending a few moments with you! Let’s meet again next year!

But back to the brand; puroBIO is an Italian brand I had never heard of before. They make natural and organic makeup, made in Italy, without using ingredients harmful to health or tested on animals. The Italian brand wants to offer the most natural cosmetic and as “pure” as possible. I got the chance to try a few of their products and I really really like them. I will share a few more details about the products I tried so far in different months in the coming weeks. So far I can say that their lipsticks and their eyeshadow pencils are ones of the best I have ever tried.

There is more new make up from Italy, actually! veg-up attracted me because of their ethics; the packaging is made from folding carton and recycled plastic, they use environmentally friendly materials for every part fot their exhibition booth, and also when it comes to logistics, they do their best to opt for anti-pollution methods. Those who know me, know that you can totally get me with this 😉

I did not try their products yet, but I sure will and will let you know how I liked them!

I also got to attend two blogger walks, one on the biofach and one on the vivaness and really enjoyed both of them. I learned a lot about the different certification procedures regarding natural cosmetics on the vivaness tour, and a lot about the challenges organic producers of food products face here in Germany on the biofach walk. Plus I got to know a bunch of new brands with great ideas, ideologies and stories. It is impossible to share everything here, but I will try to include a few stories here and there in my blog posts in the next few weeks.

Oh and there was a blogger breakfast. It was somehow not like really vegan friendly (why did you have to put dairy on the fruit salad?)  but I had a tea and smoothies and, most importantly, I got to know a bunch of really really nice bloggers. Ah, I was so excited about that! I met like the sweetest ladies ever and had so many good talks.

But back to the products.

I was really happy to see a whole bunch of super natural and easy to make deodorants!

Do you remember my post about how to make your own deodorant? It is easy to make it yourself… and it easily happens that something goes wrong and the outcome is not quite what you expected. This is why I actually went back to buying organic and all natural deodorant from sustainable brands instead of making my own. I found three brands for deodorant which recipes are all based on baking soda (similar to the recipe I shared on the blog, yet more complex, with more different oils and essential oils) and I was so excited about this. Check out  The Ohm Collection for a powdered deodorant, Ben & Anna and We love the Planet for cream like deodorants. We love the Planet comes all plastic free, whereas Ben & Anna do have a deodorant stick (from plastic) which could be more convenient for some (especially when transitioning from a conventional deodorant to an all natural alternative).

And now just in short a few more highlights of mine:

  • plastic free lip balms from ECO LIPS with a 100% biodegradable packaging! A huge YAY for that!
  • The new line from Primavera, a brand that I have been writing about a lot here on the blog; because I love it a lot. The new line is all about yoga scents and I deeply fell in love with the new scents.
  • The products from Uoga Uoga – I had my eyes on them for a while now and finally got to meet the persons behind the brand at the fair. Plus getting to try their face powders which are all made from amber! Yes, amber!

Another highlight: getting to know the persons behind Provida. I am using their products since a while now and I LOVE them. I shared a few oils here on the blog and I will soon share a review on their 100% organic nail polishes, their lipcolors, and a few other favorites of mine.

The persons behind the brand are just the sweetest ever and I so enjoyed talking with them. I can’t wait to share more with you 🙂

Oh, and a last one. The only food related for today. The BEST EVER raw chocolate. Believe when I say so. I really tried a lot of raw chocolate in the pat few months but the pralines from Ridiculously Good are by far the best I have ever tried. Oh my… I will for sure share them a few more times on the blog in the coming months, I am almost sure they will be part of my Spring favorites, Summer favorites, Fall favorites, Winter favorites, Christmas gift guides… 😀

Check out those two sweethearts at Ridiculously Good; they are not only super nice, they make the nicest healthy treat ever. Promise.

Okay, wow. This is a long post. And I deleted like half of the pictures I wanted to share in the first place because it would have been too much. But there is more to come.. so stay tuned 🙂

I hope you enjoyed this first little insight into the biofach and vivaness trade fair 2017.
